The Shasta ascents are short two-day courses, covering the most important fundamental skills and various mountaineering safety techniques. We go over self-belay and self-arrest with an ice axe, and French-stepping with your crampons. You learn to build a safe high camp and begin to understand avalanche and rock-fall hazards. This is a great opportunity to learn mountaineering techniques and test your stamina on a tall mountain!
